Penang and Genting

|
This trip is full of surprise as i do not know who am i going with until the very last minute :D People that i am familiar with but i have not seen them for so long. Everyone is busy with their own life/job/activity. Together we gather at Jejantas Sg. Buloh and we depart in two cars heading um... Supposedly to Penang but somehow in middle we stop by this place with Hot Spring Water. This place is called Sungai Klah Hot Spring Park. Exit Sungkai/Trolak and continue travel deep deep inside the oil palm forest -.-" I was surprised that this is one of the best managed hot spring in Malaysia. Supported by the Malaysia Tourism Board.

I myself don't believe that natural springs have healing properties and detoxify toxic from the body. Although it is recommended that people with stiff muscles, stiff joints, rheumatism, spinal injuries, insomnia and skin related problems consider soaking themselves in hot spring pool. If it is really that helpful, i think the hospital will have to close down already!! -.-" swt

We arrive at Sungai Klah about 90 minutes later.....

Walkway to the Hot Spring

I have no idea what does TRAP means. Luckily i did not get trapped in the jungle. We did not pay the entrance fees and we have to walk all the way to the hot spring pool (They do have a buggy service, that carry passenger from the entrance to the pool). Which is another 10 minutes walk from this notice board.

Ugh.... I hate the local weather here. Its so Hot. And we are heading to Hot Spring. -.-" The heat comes from the sun is hotter than the water in the river.

10 minutes later.....

Xw and Cher Lu @ Private Jacuzzi Pool

As cool as it may sound, nothing is free in this world. An hour here cost Rm 75. In return we get Private atmosphere, no crowd, 7 of us Free and easy.

The water in the pool is cold initially, but then someone request for hotter Jacuzzi pool. So end up turning on only the hot water supply!! (Hes like trying to kill everyone in the pool, with his evil face) 10 minutes later, its getting really hot. Amazingly, they still enjoy the hotness of the water bath. Honestly, the water is just nice for me to make Milo. Its Not boiling but its too hot for a person to soak inside the water bath. I have no idea why they are trying to incubate themselves in 50 degree water bath. I can even feel the steam coming out from the pool. Sweating!

Yuan Ling, Wei Kiat, Gary, Lucas, Gerard.

Thanks for the sandwich prepared by Yan Ling and Wei Kiat :D We took a break and had our lunch there.

They seems to enjoy very much in the hot water bath. I later on found out what have actually happened :D

Haha.... They are rebusing the telur.

Yes, this is exactly what they been doing in the pool ~.~

Hehe, the management created an area for family to enjoy egg-boiling activity. (Chicken egg ok!) We can actually boil the egg at home. I just don't get the point of boiling egg with natural source of heat. Does it serve any purpose? Wads the benefit to boil an egg with high sulfur content water? A person will get stronger by eating the egg boiled with hot spring water is it? Puzzled @.@

A search over the net reveal that, the unique part of boiling eggs in hot spring which is properly cook will have hard egg yolk but the egg white would be runny. (Opposite from the normal soft-boiled egg). Is it true? I only know that people will just leave the eggs there and collect back half an hour later. Make sure that the egg is 100% Cooked. Also in a way, easier to consume later on...

Recommendation of duration time for egg-boiling

It comes with specific instruction on the timing. 1/2 boil or full boil is your choice. But i doubt the accuracy of this info. I shall try this out if i do have second chance. Also i will clarify see if i grow bigger eating eggs boiled with hot spring water :S heheh

Due to time constrain, the massage plan is call off. Its interesting to see how the *Authentic Ayurveda Treatment* goes about. They have already make an enquiry and even choose on the area to go about. (Head, Neck, Arm - Separate section separate charges -.-")

Ayurveda Treatment Available

Durian Tree

On the way back to the car, i saw few of durian tree located randomly just next to the walkway. I have no idea why they place the durian tree just next to the visitor walkway. I hope there is no other intention. Glad that i am still alive.Notice that durian and warn everyone to look ahead. Otherwise later die without knowing any reason!!

I once heard that durian don't fall on peoples head. Is it true? I have never heard of any incident that people got killed by the durian although it is pretty much dangerous. I have only heard that Durian with Alcohol really a No No Combination. Perhaps you may try out and let me know that you have actually survive and beat the Myth. If you happen to die then its not my fault :S I take no responsibility.

We then left the Sungai Klah Hot Spring and head directly to Penang....
The journey from my house to Penang usually takes about 4-5 hours. But then we arrive at Penang only 8 hours later. -.-"

Penang bridge

Its been 1 or 2 years back since the last time i went to Penang. Before we arrive, we have already being told that the driver in the Island is aggressive and violent. Just before we arrive at the Penang Bridge toll, i will raise one hand supporting that statement. One day driving in Penang, i will raise 2 hand agree with it !!! If you were to be there for 1 week, you will not raise any hand because you will have to be more aggressive to survive with the traffic condition. They uses HON more than they step on the brake. Maybe i am exaggerating but i feel annoyed. :S

Expanding Penang Bridge

This bridge is like a permanent car park. Cars moving back to back. Traffic slow along the bridge. Because of the construction, the view to the bridge suspension was blocked, we was wondering if they have removed it :S Then my friend said its only an illusion -.-" heheheh. Yes they are expanding the Penang bridge from 4 lane to 6 lane. The bridge now looks very much robotic. It reminds me of the condition in ICU. It looks like all the equipment attached to the patient just to keep them alive. heheheh. I still have phobia until now. (Don't know the bridge will collapse or not)

The bridge should look like the picture below. Fine architecture. Surprise to know that this bridge has been operational for as long as i live :S

Cable Stayed Concrete Girders - Picture taken 4 years back @ year 2004

Alot difference compare to what they have done to the bridge. We then head directly to the accommodation. By then its already 7 pm. So hungry.

Gary suggested to go Terubong for seafood dinner. It seems to be the best in town. Travel from Batu Feringghi to the restaurant cover 2/3 of Penang Island. Freaking Far, considering that everyone is half dead. (Hungry)

Signature Dish

The crab is fresh, juicy and the sauce is tasty. Unfortunately, until now I myself always have hard time getting the flesh from crab. -.-" I think i should search for the guide on how to eat crab.

Fried Fresh Crab and Grilled Lady Finger

The sauce for the lady finger is sour. Assam taste plus lime is just heavenly. A lil bit like laksa style.

Crab, Vege, and Grilled Sting Ray :D

The portion of the stingray is way too small :D We actually ordered another portion later on....

Fish in Claypot with Wine, Fried Squid, and Fried La La.

The Fried LaLa sauce is yummy.

They enjoy the food very much :D

Wooooo....

Focus, Eat, Eat, Eat

Overall i would rate the dinner 8 out of 10 :D After the dinner, we head back to Batu Ferringhi. There is one whole stretch of night market along Batu Ferringhi. (Petaling Street Style) Selling cheap watch, cheap handbags, and cheap Dvd. Blink Blink -.^ I got myself a toy instead. The price of the DVD is simply irresistible. A movie ticket one One Utama will get you about 3 Dvds, could be 4!

We set up our gambling table at the motel. Hell ya, we travel over 500 Km just to gamble until 3 o clock in the morning. :D Started with Big 2 then proceed to BlackJack.

1 Girrafe 2 Giraffe.

How i wish i am a Girrafe. On average they only sleep 1.9 hours in a day (24 hours). Whereby we human being took 1/3 of the day sleeping and dreaming. Animal communicate at an infrasound level. This include giraffe, elephant, whales, and rhinoceros. Level of voice which is too low for human ear to hear. True or false?

Its true. Supported by a research paper. Ok.

I shall make a video of how this toy works in future when i have free time.

Perhaps the most unforgettable moment here, apart from extensive day activities will be - The motel that we are staying for that Single night. :D Probably the cheapest in town ! No pictures taken.

Next morning.... another interesting day :S

Kedai Kopi Swee Kong

We had our brunch at this coffee house. I remember i been there before and i remember previously the food there only cost Rm 2.50 while KL area cost Rm 3.50. So we ordered from each and every stall, make sure that we have tried everything they have there. Two word. The quality drop. The price Increase. >.< Disappoint

Got the heritage feel. Old times.
Lucas, Cherlu, Xinwen, Garylow.

I heard they asking for direction to Gurney Drive. If i am not mistaken Gurney drive is the one with lots of individual stall that sell different kind of food. Something like hawker stall. But Open air. I was looking for Prawn mee, Curry mee, Laksa, Fried Chicken Skin, and Lobak o.O wtf. we ended up at the old coffee shop.

Fried Mee Mamak Style

Everyone was laughing at the indian feller who fried the Mee. This joker knock on the wok so loud until everyone was starring at him. -.-" You can actually hear that sound 2 street away. Seriously embarrasing. He looks like the video in fast forward speed. Very cartoon!

Random Pic

Busy eating

Yummy yummy

We ordered Fried Kueh Tiaw, Loh Mee, Fried Mee Hoon, and Wan Tan Mee.

Penang Curry laksa

I feel that laksa taste the best without the Prawn Paste ( Hae Ko - U know those black colour sticky paste that always comes with the Laksa ).

Penang Assam Laksa

Authentic Penang Laksa

We have to wait for 20 minutes for this laksa. Still not that bad. The worst comes later. Both of the laksa is very rich in taste. Aromatic and taste really good. Yummy.

Two bowl sharing among 7 of us.

This is only the first round........................

We then proceed to the famous Char Koay Teow aka The goggle aunty. Just before we place an ordered we have already been warned by one of the locals there. It goes like ''The Char Koay Teow is really good but you will have to wait like Shit!'' Okay~~ Ignoring that fact that we have to wait, we place an order and while waiting we also ordered the LoBak and Hokkien Mee. (For your information, at Penang ask for Hokkien mee If you are looking for Prawn Mee - They don't have Prawn mee there ok. Hokkien mee is = Prawn mee) =.="

Arrogent Goggle Aunty

I have no idea why everyone willing to wait so long just for the Char Koay Teow. They uses charcoal as the source of fire and i think the charcoal produce more heat/higher temperature compared to modern petroleum gas. But still high temperature and speed is not inversely proportional ok.

Lucas, Cher Lu, Xw

Wei Kiat seems to be so stress out waiting for for our turn.

The Ice Kacang is good. Huge Red Beans. The weather is way too hot. Luckily we have this to cool us down while waiting for the main dish~ (Koay Teow)

Lobak

After we have finish the lobak and everything else on the table, the lady at the counter was like saying, *This table their Char Koey Teow also haven come, they have just arrive and still long way to go* WTF

10 minutes waiting ...........

20 minutes waiting ...........

40 minutes waiting.............

Impatience Wei Kiat walk all the way to the front, act like Hero wanna request for the status of our Koay Teow. Ended up staying just beside the goggle aunty looking at the number of plates before our turn. Guess what happen?

Customer from another table went all the way there saying We waited for half an hour already, where is our Char Koey Teow? The answer given was If you CAN'T wait then don't eat! WTF.... Excellent service attitude! Must give award!

And Wei Kiat came back telling us of just few more to go, very fast our turn already...Thanks ar.... Doh! If we were to wait more than 1 hour i think we should just give up.

Cf,Xw,Cl,G,Yl,Wk. Gary cameraman.

Finally after 1 hour of waiting and now i get what does she mean by long way to go ...... Dotz!

Our Godly Char Koey Teow has finally arrive at our table. We ordered total of 4 plates.

Heavenly Kueh Teow

The Prawn contribute 40 % of the total content of the Char Koey Teow. Oil is another 10 % , Koey Teow 30 % and Vege 10 % and 10 % goes to the seasoning, garlic, and sausage.

Big Prawn?

Recently i went to the night market and saw the stall selling prawn which is biggest size of all at the price of Rm 47 per KG. I don't know how many prawn that we can get from 1 KG but it is seriously not cheap.

The prawn is juicy and fresh

Before i left, i saw the amount of oil used to fried the Koey Teow. She pour in two types of oil, ordinary cooking oil and fat oil (obtained from the layer of fats ). This is not halal k!!

And Guess how much it cost us? Rm 24 :D Average of Rm 6 Per plate. The portion is Half of what you can get here in KL. The price is 30 % more than what you have to pay here. Ridiculous.

In conclusion, 5 out of 7 says OVERRATED -.-"

Two types of Peah; Poh Peah and Chun Peah. (Ordinary and Fried)

Chee Cheong Fun

Only when we left the place i realized they have Chee Cheong Fun next door. The special thing with the Chee CheongFun is that they used Prawn paste as the sauce. In this case, the taste is unique and simply the best :D Must try next time !

Alternative

Another goggle uncle. The Goggle is even bigger same goes to the prawn!! But we did not order from both stall, so no comparison :S But his goggle is really cool. Like Robocop! The shirt doesn't match at all. He should wear something like metallic colour shirt to stand ahead of the arrogant goggle aunty. More eye catching mer.... Undeniably both stall also have very good business. They do not have time to go toilet OK!!

Him Hiang the tambum biscuit

I don't fancy tambun biscuit because everytime i eat it i feel like suffocating and so hard to swallow. hehehehe. It taste good once everything is down your throat. Him Hiang do not have enough stock and made us queue for the biscuit. We didn't and walk down the street and get the so call imitation of the biscuit which i think taste equally good :S

Giraffe meet his friend Cj7 and Long neck Giraffe :D

Later part of the day we left Penang and drove all the way to Genting....

Not knowing weather we will get a place to stay or not, we try our luck calling up the hotels asking for reservation. They do not entertain reservation. WTF!!!

We arrive at about 8 pm again very hungry, we stop by one of the restaurant on the mid hill. By the time we finish its already 9.30pm. We quickly check in the service apartment at Genting View Resort. Super Peak Season Charge us Rm 410 per night. Normal Season is about Rm 270. The only drawback is that from this apartment to the casino is still quite a distance away. Far la!!!

The living room

Very spacious, 3 rooms that comes with two single bed. Settle down and get ready to head up to the top of the hill. heheh.. Before that i already set a target to earn just minimum for one night stay here. I'm not greedy :S Surprisingly i Made it through. Although i didn't earn enough to cover my whole trip but at least. Sense of achievement is there. Happy :)

Genting View

The weather was quite cold for me for not having enough cloth to cover. I only have a pathetic layer of shirt, which is not enough. I Shiver all the way from mid Hill until the top of the hill. Just get worst! GekGekGek.... eventually feel very tired.....

We end our trip with the Banana Leaf Rice at SS 2. I forget the name of the shop. I only remember the total price which cost about Rm 130 for 8 person. About RM 17 each person. Godly Price!!

There is this event where i went for lunch with my colleague. Hes Indian, and he ask weather i am alright with Indian cuisine or not. So i said okay. Anything will do. Who knows he brought me to the lousy shop located jus beside the road side that serve disgusting looking dishes. But the taste is acceptable. So i happily took the sotong and mutton. Without any price tag, that meal cost me RM 9. Wtf. What world is this????? My salary is just enough for me to eat!!

Thanks everyone who involve in this trip that brings us laughter and joy. I personally enjoy it very much even though its only 3 days. The journey that matters :D

Lastly,

Wish everyone

HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009~~

Merry Christmas 2OO8

|
Orchard Road 25th Dec 2008

As previously mentioned, Singapore celebrated Christmas 2 months before, Malaysia 2 weeks before due to the 'Haji' holiday. So they will only be able to set up Decorated Christmas tree 2 weeks before December 25th.

Over the month, i went around looking for the best Christmas tree in town. But to me i think the best Christmas tree is the one in Living Quarter. *I do not have a pic* For the purpose of sales they got to decorate the tree with everything they have in shop.

Maybe to some people who doenst know how does Christmas comes about. A quick search in Wikipedia will have answer to all your doubt and question. In short, Christmas has something to do with Jesus :S Either the day he was born or the date of conception.

Singapore - Vivo City

Christmas at Vivo City

It looks like an inverted green colour ice-cream cone. Its huge but its not realistic. Probably one of the few outdoor Christmas tree display. Weatherproof. Located at the top floor of Vivo City.

Singapore - Tiong Bahru Plaza

Candy Theme Christmas at Tiong Bahru Plaza

I was waiting for my colleague to fetch me when i went down to Sg on duty. They have lots of mini shopping complex (Plaza) that i believe it is build for the convenience of the children/teenager there. I was there during the working hour and I saw the complex is flooded with teenager on school uniform. :S

Singapore - Takashimaya

The decoration have the repetitive motive, to me it looks very dull and not very attractive :S I think they build the christmas tree as big as possible so one Tree is enough for the whole court. Cut Cost. Economy is bad :S

Christmas at Takashimaya

Major Shopping Complex in Malaysia

One Utama

The making of Christmas Theme Stage @ One U Oval Court. hehe. I am impressed by the amount of budget they have to make different theme at different occasion. The end product is always the best among any other shopping complex.

Preparation Work
At this point of time, i have no idea what are they going to come up with. The White colour theme is there. :D

I thought they going to build some high rise puzzle that make people got lost in the middle, searching for a way out. ZzZzZz ... Saw that Zig Zag Wooden Block ? :D But then i think the oval court is simply too small for this to happen.

The main stage for Christmas Event Performance.

They have an event calander with different performance each and every day. I can't remember what is the event. i myself did not attend any of the show organised here. I heard from my colleague whereby there is a DisneyPrincess show. Whereby they accept the application online and the contestant will go on 2 minute show on the stage. When asked how was it? The answer is Oh it is very competitive. Yes, we already know the answer. :D

A week later........

Elegant, Inspirational, and Exceptional.

5 Different Sizes

They do not cut down any pine tree. Replace the tree with light bulb. Oh well, at least we still know that it represent the Christmas tree. rite? I think it could be the reason of environmental friendly. (Yes, most of the Christmas tree is fake. But this is something different from the rest; unique). This is something different from the rest of the shopping complex.

Christmas at One Utama

Oh, the block is the seat for the audience. Poker Theme. They encourage the shopper to gamble during this Christmas Season? I can't think of any reason to relate Christmas event with Playing cards. Swt -.-"

View from the back of the Stage

One Utama Oval Court

The Clock and The White Rabbit

First thing came to my mind, Where is the rabbit? The Clock lying on the floor is actually operational but where is the rabbit??? The Time is accurate but again Where is the White Rabbit? Perhaps the rabbit has gone out for a tea break. Its meant for photoshot.

MidValley

Christmas at Midvalley
I love the colour combination used on this tree decoration.

I have no idea what the elephant is doing on the stage. I think they are having some jungle theme. When talk about Christmas, first thing come to my mind is Snow and Cold. But why on earth there is so many animal here together with Christmas tree? Africa Style is it?

This Clown head looks very scary. It reminds me of the Luna Park at Sydney. Native facial expression. The Christmas tree taken individually looks great but when it is taken from far, the whole stage looks alot like the jungle feel. Luckily they do not have a Tarzan on the stage!!

Mid Valley Center Court

Mid Valley South Court
The one and only Santa Clause that i have seen so far. Yet, its the fake ones. How come most of the shopping complex emphasize on the Christmas tree but there isn't any Father of Christmas at all??

The Garden

Christmas at TheGarden MidValley

I Hate Christmas tree that can't fit into my camera.

TheGarden

I have to climb all the way to the top of the building just to take this pathetic photo :D They do not have any big court at The Garden. So they couldn't build the Christmas tree horizontally. Therefore, they could only go vertically up the roof top. :S I think this is no longer ice-cream cone. Its more like Un-peeled Corn (Jagung). Fresh from the farm :D

Sunway Pyramid

Pyramid have 3 Court - Blue, Orange, and Main

The Entrance to Sunway Pyramid

New Wing, Blue Court, Sunway Pyramid.

Toy Theme Christmas at Sunway Pyramid

The present is super huge if you were to compare with the size of the Christmas tree. How i wish i will get a present as big as the Tree But of course not that Yellow Clown Head Pls !!!! Its Striking and Ugly -.-" I have no idea what is the mini white colour chair doing there. Outstanding.

Indoor Mini Ferris Wheel. Its so cute.

Pyramid Main Court

I feel so warm when i walk to the other corner of the shopping complex. The roof is orange in colour. The tree is burning red colour. The light bulb is also red! Even the centralize aircond is not efficient enough to take out the heat produced by the *Christmas Tree*

Ceiling Crystal Lamp

Christmas at Sunway Pyramid

This seems to be the trend for 2008 Christmas Tree. Using lots of light bulb. We have almost similar concept with the one in One Utama. But this is not purely LED light. The structure is covered with pink lace.

Red Colour Brush :D

I Think they probably going to leave it here until New Year.

Energetic, Vibrant, and Powerful

This is too hot for me :D

Kuala Lumpur City Center (KLCC)

KLCC

I think they re-use the Christmas Tree over the years. I have feeling that i saw this Christmas tree before!!! This is really huge. When the tree is too big, the decoration looks so empty and plain.

Christmas at Kuala Lumpur City Center

Christmas at KLCC

I remember i was there because of the PC fair organized recently at KLCC (Conventional Center). Otherwise i wont be there to take this photo.

Pavilion

Pavilion

Only heard of this place before but never been there before.

They do not have a huge Christmas Tree indoor. Everything else is nice but not the Christmas tree. The shops is spacious and grand. All the premium brand is located at this shopping complex. Filthy rich individual will enjoy this place very much. But Poor people like will only be able to walk around taking random shots. :D

I went into the shops where i used to buy my pants from many years back. From what i remember, previously the maximum price for a single piece of jeans is about 400 to 500. But i was Surprise that when i step in today that new release Premium Jeans Cost from 699 to 899 :D wtf!

I was telling my friend Clothing and Accessories will increase in 20 to few hundred ringgit and yet It can be accepted. But for Groceries, increment of 20 cent is a big thing to most of the people. Maybe its the difference between necessity and necessary. :D

Christmas at Pavilion

There is actually a walkway along the Christmas Tree that can actually fit a person in Between. There is even a Stairs to walk all the way to the top. I think this is the purpose that it is being build in such simple and yet useful decoration.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone

Merry Merry Christmas

&
